WQMDs part II as the app keeps crashing

24th March: Portes d’Oche from Malpasset. Saw Bearded Vulture mobbed by Choughs on return.

Portes d’Oche is col left of peak
20 mins light axe to chop and snowshoes on feet to sweep
Many avalanche
So i did not continue over to Lac de Darbon

25th March: Col du Serpentin but did not continue to Lac d’Arvouin due to avalanche risk, see pics.

Full depth avalanche and multiple surface releases
Lac d’Arvouin

29th March: set off home but a loud throbbing from the engine stopped me at Dijon.

A night on the industrial estate
. . then the Ibis
Cultural tour of Dijon via Museum, Botanical Gardens, Art Gallery then lunch in the square

Then hire car to Calais but couldn’t board ferry as foot passenger so another night in Ibis (Styles which is not as nice) Calais (also not as nice as Dijon). Had been a day of frustrating calls to Don’t Call Don’t Assist and at 22:00 couldn’t be bothered navigating gluten free options in another language so ate crisps and drank wine in my room after using a corkscrew in the shop to uncork a half bottle of red before going to the till.

Next day after 4hrs of waiting to find if they would send a taxi from Dover to get me on the ferry or a hire car back to Paris to get the Eurostar; i decided to get a taxi to the docks and thumb a lift onto the ferry (with all the contents from the van). I got straight out of the taxi into Steve’s scruffy Transit with Lily the Australian hitchhiker and onto the ferry – thanks Steve.

An amount of luggage

Home just before midnight then college next day.
