IML Summer Ass

Holed up in a café for 3 days to do my IML admins:

  • Logbook 
  • Home Paper (a research exercise – time consuming but learnt a lot)
  • Prepare 2 x 10min on the hill presentations
  • Leader’s Resource Pack for the Assesment area (left this to do in St Luc where it would be easier)

6/7/8 Aug – 3 day backpack Grindelwald – Schwarzhoren – Schynige Platte

Camped here to avoid cows stepping on me in the night
Eiger from Schwarzhoren
My descent. Inversion to all horizons and Schynige Platte at end of furthest ridge
Down climbed the ladders & cables
2nd camp – Limestone country so couldn’t fill water till reaching station at Schynige Platte

Camping under the Eiger feels more dramatic as time goes by, the scale dawning on you rather than diminishing as you begin to process it

I think this was a restaurant car which stopped there at night for your meal?

13 Aug – soloed the K4 ferrata up to Ostegghütte

Heard some whoops – looked up to see a wingsuiter fly by top right (from the direction of the Eiger summit)

Descended ferrata/ran down in 2 hours to leave for St Luc
